He continues as the sole "opposition" on the Democratic machine-controlled Township Council. Joe Pinckney, Samuel T. McGhee, and John Kulish also took the oath of office for the Wards One, Two and Three council seats, respectively. All four councilmen had run unopposed in last May's nonpartisan township elections. Photo:SRB McGHEE, BATISTA LEAD COUNCIL The Council voted unanimously - with Councilman Peter Corvelli absent - to elect McGhee as President of the Council and Councilman Jorge Batista as Vice-President at last week's midday Organization meeting. McGhee appointed each of his colleagues to serve on the Council's subcommittees. Freedman, however, was placed only as "second alternate" to two committees - a move at which the councilman jibed: "I'm moving up in the world."
