Isabel Spares New Jersey

By Ambrose Bierce, Editor in Chief

Hurricane Isabel rendered several Mid-Atlantic states as federal emergency zones, but New Jersey was spared any serious damage.

Inland flooding and beach erosion never occurred despite dire predictions, but several thousands of New Jersey residents were left without power over the weekend.

Union County suffered from fallen trees and damaged private property as a result.

Only one death was reported in New Jersey. Pamela McGlynn, 34, of Bushkill, Pa., was killed when a tree fell onto her car in White Township, Warren County.
