YOUR OPINION:
Residents Must Make Change

A Dispatch from Hillside Citizen Toy-Ling Washington

It is appalling that the township has voted themselves a raise in light of the one million dollar cut they gave our schools. What Hillside citizens MUST understand is that these people on the council do not care about people other than themselves. I make that statement because no one ever attends the township meetings. There might be four or five people from the town when Hillside has 20,000 people. If the citizens of Hillside were to come together to advocate for each other, the gross disrespect that we, as well as our children, receive from the town would not be the case.

The Town council has become very arrogant. I have had members of the town council use the words "because I said so", whenever I ask questions that as a taxpayer I am entitled to ask. The people of Hillside do not realize that the folks running our town present themselves as LORDS and MASTERS. I know that if people would just come out and witness this attitude they would be up in arms.

Now when you are home relaxing take a moment to think about the THREE people in a town of 20,000 who are fighting the bureaucrats... and loosing because there is no strength in our numbers. So be satisfied with paying those high taxes and those educators who disrespect you and your children; the talk of no money in the school budget; the garbage that stays on your street for a night and a day; the bars that keep you up all night; and the neglect of the Hillside youth recreation. And by all means, keep giving the Town council raises for the insult to your intelligence, and a Mayor who is hardly ever at the township meetings.
