Heroes of the Crosswalks
Hillside's corps of school crossing guards honored this week.
The Hillside Board of Education and the Hillside Police Department honored the township's crossing guards with certificates at a breakfast this week.
The certificates were awarded by Hillside Police Chief Robert Quinlan.
The guards are employed by the township to assist and protect school children as they walk to and from school each day.
Each major intersection in Hillside has at least one crossing guard on duty.
The picture below shows Lt. Robertson and school Superintendent Raymond Bandlow (third rear) standing with a few of the many crossing guards who attended the breakfast at Hillside High School.
